Overview

Atlas is Boston Dynamics' all-electric humanoid built for industrial material handling, part sequencing, machine tending, order building, and container unloading. With 56 degrees of freedom and fully rotational joints, it works human-equipped stations autonomously. Notable: it walks to a charger and hot-swaps its own battery, and a skill learned by one Atlas deploys across the whole fleet.

Capabilities

  • 56 degrees of freedom with fully rotational joints, a far wider range of motion than the prior hydraulic Atlas
  • Lifts 50 kg instantaneous / 30 kg sustained / 20 kg one-handed, with a 2.3 m reach
  • Autonomously walks to a charger and hot-swaps its own battery in ~3 minutes for continuous operation
  • Fleet learning: a skill mastered by one Atlas deploys across the fleet; Orbit ties it into MES/WMS systems
  • IP67-rated and field-serviceable, with tactile fingers and palm plus a 360-degree camera view
